After the Rain

After the Rain presents new artworks by seven members of the Tuesday Junction art group. Based in Echuca—a place name that means ‘meeting of the waters’ in Yorta Yorta language—the artists witnessed firsthand the changes to the landscape and their community’s response as the Goulburn, Campaspe, and Murray Rivers breached their banks during the October 2022 flood.

Through their artistic responses, Tuesday Junction have captured their experience and the lingering after-effects of the major flood. The exhibition is a showcase of the artists' individual practices, which span a range of approaches and mediums including painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, textiles, and found object assemblage. A major collaborative work of reclaimed hessian sacks, reclaimed from the floods, have been embroidered and sewn into an installation piece that hangs within the space, weaving their shared experiences together.

Tuesday Junction is a group of artists who came together in 2006 to share their artistic knowledge, opinions, and ideas on art. Seven members have participated in this exhibition: Jill Kenley, Anne Mawson, Bronwyn Morton, Carolyn Rolls, Penny Silver, Rebecca Wells and Kerry Williams.
